RP Power is a premier distributor of Kohler Power Generation Equipment. Customer and product support are essential in our day-to-day operation of new equipment sales, repairs, maintenance, and rentals. 

RP Power, LLC, is seeking a detail-oriented, driven, and resourceful Emergency Power Generator Service Technician to troubleshoot and repair diesel and natural gas prime movers, generators, switchgear, and Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS). The successful candidate will have experience in preventative maintenance, maintaining power generation equipment to include but not limited to diesel and natural gas prime movers, generator diagnosis and repair, and switchgear and ATS maintenance. We provide a clean service vehicle, fuel card, lodging and per diem as required.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily including the following:

  • Perform skilled preventative maintenance repairs of various diesel and natural gas engines, generators, switchgear, and ATS’s.
  • Be proficient at learning and utilizing manufacturer specific software to troubleshoot and diagnose engine and control system issues.
  • Facilitate technical support and liaison with equipment manufacturers.
  • Perform scheduled, preventive, or predictive generator maintenance tasks.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repair tasks.
  • Perform periodic inspections to identify maintenance needs.
  • Work in potentially confined areas of high heat, humidity, and cold.
  • Utilize all current technology for communication, documentation, and research.
  • Ensure safe and reliable operation of electrical equipment by following and enforcing NFPA, OSHA, and client standards.
  • Additional responsibilities may be added at the direction of company management.
  • Must be able to travel to sites in Company served regions
  • Must be able to travel within RP Power’s area of responsibility on short notice for extended periods to resolve customer issues.
  • Must be able to pass/maintain a DOT physical/med card.
  • Attendance is an essential function of this position.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High School diploma required; and, minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of related experience and/or training in an Emergency Power Generation field or similar industry.
  • Must have a good driving record.
  • Experience in maintaining generators, diesel and natural gas engines, control systems, electrical transmission, and distribution systems.
  • Generator end troubleshooting and repair skills are essential for success
  • Strong logical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Have working knowledge of engines (exhaust after treatment systems especially helpful).
  • Have working knowledge of and be able to interface with SCADA and BMS
  • Must possess standard tools of the trade
