Assistant Project Engineer

Reports To: Industrial Sales Manager

RP Power is a premier distributor of Kohler Power Generation Equipment.  Customer and product support is essential in our day to day operation of new equipment sales, repairs, maintenance and rentals. 

You will be responsible in assisting Project Managers by providing information and training on company products, services, applications, and system design as well as the coordination of engineering and sales support of Kohler Power Systems manufactured products. Assistant Project Engineers also deal with logistical issues and use their project management skills to reach all organizational goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, the Assistant Project Engineer must be able to perform the following:


  • Manage Sales Accounts through support of active projects and information.
  • Manage on-line iSqFt report – review upcoming projects and track bid dates, assist sales staff by preparing a bidders’ list of electrical sub-contractors, communicate weekly all sales leads found.
  • Work with Sales staff to determine project specific requirements, run quotes for the project via KohlerNet, and draft proposals.
  • Prepare & distribute submittals. Create drawings with dimensions and pad layouts, as needed.
  • Work with Onsite Electrical Contractors to support the site preparation, installation, interconnect wiring, and commissioning of the Kohler Power Systems equipment on the jobsite.
  • Provide technical assistance for customers, as needed.
  • Maintain and update Sales projects in CRM.
  • Communicate Order Forecasts & Sales Hit Rate to Kohler monthly.
  • Maintain Job Register and Proposal Register.
  • Create Job Management Forms on sales projects and maintain file archive organization.
  • Place and track all orders – notify customer that you are managing their project for sales staff.
  • Expedite shipments when needed, process RMA requests, mis-shipments, incorrect orders, etc.
  • Compile Operating & Maintenance manuals (CD, USB or hard copy). Ship to customer with transmittal letter.
  • Know “who” to call with specific problems.
  • Attendance is an essential function of the job.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

Technical Bachelor’s degree (Engineering preferred) from a college or university; and, minimum of one year related experience (preferred) with project management.

Safety and Security

Employees are expected to observe all safety and security procedures.  This applies especially in the warehouse and service yard areas.  These are working areas where forklifts are in operation, stacks of equipment are present, moving vehicles which not only include service vehicles but large transport trucks as well.  Employees are expected to use extreme caution while in these areas and report any potentially unsafe condition or activity.
